Extensive Renovation of Affordable Housing in Kannapolis, NC
Completed in July 2025, this 11-month rehabilitation effort improved every aspect of the multifamily apartments, a 52-year-old community in the fast-growing suburbs northeast of Charlotte, NC. Six apartments were modified to meet accessibility standards for the mobility impaired. A new 20-year Housing Assistance Program contract and Low-Income Housing Tax Credits were key to converting seven market-rate units into affordable housing. Offering a rare mix of one, two, three and four-bedroom apartments, the community is now an important multifamily resource for households earning up to 60 percent of the Area Median Income.
